Turkiye’s first feldspar mine was established in 1962 by Mehmet Tuncer, one of Kaltun’s founding partners, and this was begining of “first” for KALTUN Mining, Co.  Previously, feldspar had been used in Turkiye only as molding sand, but now it began to be used as a ceramic raw material in Canakkale Ceramics factories. Mr. Tuncer’s innovation became a standard item in the Turkish mining industry.

Just as Kaltun Mining had introduced feldspar to the ceramic industry, it had done the same for the glass industry.

Quality improvements is applied carefully not only at the quarry but in all processes, materials and equipment used in production processes and at the beginning of 1995 KALTUN started to ISO 9000 quality assurance studies.

After long and attentive studies, KALTUN has been qualified for ISO 9002 at the end of 1996 and become the first company in its field in Turkiye to receive this International Quality Certificate.  KALTUN received ISO 9001:2000  Quality Management System Certificate in November, 2003. And in 2009 it is upgraded to ISO 9001:2008.
